Talking pie,

Does anyone know where I can get a world class slice of French apple pie in New Jersey...you know, the kind with raisins, and the icing on top.? Gotta have the icing on top.

You would think with my love of pies, I would have grown up on them, but that wasn't the case. My mother made cakes, cookies and cream puffs on a regular basis, but I don't ever remember her making a pie.

Same here, I don't remember a single pie unless it was from a box on a holiday, and I'm definitely a pie guy. Seems like we had a never-ending supply of apple crisp, cookies, and jam squares though.
Maybe it was our lack of pies growing up that fostered a particular affinity for them as adults?

My apple pies can't hold a candle to my Mother's. And then there were the lemon meringue, coconut cream, all the berries, chess, on and on. She sure could bake.

My mother was the queen of pies. She could whip up one before going to work in the morning. She won several awards for her pies in PA. The first pie I ever made was a disaster.....crust like cardboard. I finally learned....but they're nothing like hers.

Thank you! I've not entered any pie contests, but have won first place for my toffee, raisin bread, cookies, and scones at the county fair. Also won Judge's Choice award for cheesecake.
