Omaha Steaks Beef Frank

We do "Weiner Wednesdays" here at the factory and before I had a chance to try one, everyone glommed down all of the beef franks from Omaha Steaks I had been waiting to try.  Has anyone tried these?  Is it worth ordering some more?

I received an Omaha gift package this past Christmas.
The all beef hot dogs are quite good.

Probably way overpriced, but still very good.

They have Franks and Old World Franks. The Franks are pork/beef and are on sale for $12.99. You get 8 -3oz dogs. That's $8.64 a # before S&H.  (Regular price $27.99!!!!)
The Old World Franks are all beef, natural casing dogs and on sale for $14.99 for 8 of them or $9.92 a # Plus S&H. (Regular price $29.99!!!)
I hope they're good. I don't think they make them themselves. They're ad says, "These are the same plump beef and pork franks found in the best delis!" Which to me means they're someone elses dog.

These dogs are made by someone else. I'm not positive, but I think the beef/pork franks are made by Wimmers. I had one years ago and while I don't remember much, I do remember they were kind of fat, skinless, but pretty good. I've had better beef and pork franks but would not buy these as they are overpriced. And there is an Omaha Steaks Store a few miles from me so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. But they are still expensive. Even on sale.

I don't know who makes the all beef hot dog from Omaha, but they are one of the best I've had.  I didn't find them to be fatty at all.  At the site, they are considered the Gourmet Franks and I can see why they are pricey.

Which also means to me, "Why would I pay $29.99 per pound (or even on sale at $14.99) when here in Union County NJ (and presumably many other counties in the US) I could go to a German deli and pay $5.99, tops."

They're someone else's dog, I used to know exactly but I don't remember any more. The subject came up once before and was answered.

I think they're awesome. If you have a dog that you love and can get cheaper locally, that's great, you should do it and I would too. But the Omaha Steaks dogs are still excellent.

Nothing against Omaha Beef except that they are way to expensive.  Even though decent dogs are available in Philadelphia, I regularly order in dogs, wieners and fresh brats from Usinger's in Milwaukee.  Dogs are available made from certified angus as an option.  Everything runs in the $5 to $6 range plus shipping.

We're able to get Usinger's in the grocery stores out here. Have you checked Kroger?

The Omaha Steak beef/pork dogs are made at the Dearborn plant in Michigan. I would have to see a plant # from a package of their all beef dogs to know where they are made.
