Goodness. My blood sugar elevated just looking.

Hard to say for sure, but I think the Sour Cream Blueberry might have been my favorite.

I am surprised that Bushie did not list his grape pie that he special ordered. I understand he rated it fantastic.

I knew you would come through! Lots of beautiful photos, with the cherry pie being my favorite and the coconut cream right behind. Can't say I've ever had maple pumpkin pie before, but I going to keep an eye out for it from now on.

    Here is the other thread.

    annpeeples-
I have very, very fond memories of that peach pie from Holy Hill. Although I was disappointed that they were out of the fruits of the forest pie and a bit skeptical of a peach pie in Wisconsin, that was spectacular pie. There is no doubt that Wisconsin is one of the great pie states in the country.

    Jimeats-
Sorry!!! Let us know what you end up making.

    AL-
Who needs dessert when you have entrees like this! You are a lucky man living near Louisville. I could have filled this thread up just with photos from the amazing Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen.

    BB,

One of my favorite food events in the city. Lots of sweet pies and more svaory ones every year! A couple of years ago, someone made a "crust" out of roasted poblano peppers. Very tasty.

I thought I'd throw this out info there for anyone who might be in the city that weekend:

    Hi Bakers!

    Dear Fellow Pie Bakers:

We can't believe it’s autumn, which means pie season!

The Fifth Annual Pie Social is September 28th.

Please join us again. This will be the finest Pie Social ever.

Where: Main St & Plymouth Street, Dumbo (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) Brooklyn, NY
    When: September 28, 2008
    12p.m.-3p.m.

Show off your pie baking skills! Taste your neighbor’s pie-wares. Come and
enjoy a sweet and savory event.

Bring pies and get your tasting tickets for $10

    Just come ready to eat!

If you don’t feel like baking a pie, an entry fee of $25 will get you 5
tasting tickets (equivalent to half a pie, so there’s plenty of sharing when sampling the vast array of pies.)

This event will once again raise money for NYC public schools. Volunteers from the schools (kids and parents) will help organize and orchestrate the event.

With the beautiful vista of the city from DUMBO as a backdrop, it will
certainly be a lovely pie-eating-day. This year’s event will be simultaneous with the DUMBO Arts Festival.

I hate pie, really. BUT, the cherry pies and the Key Lime...? Oh my. I can't bake pies for squat which leads to one reason I don't like them. I've tried on several occasions to bake my BF apple pies, I love to smell the house up. Ugliest damn things you ever saw. I did "smell" the house up though! I CAN however bake a Key Lime(who couldn't?) and do so for company.

I certainly enjoy seeing all the photos of various Pies you folks have enjoyed! After thinking about this thread, and wishing that I had a photo record of an annual event that we have mentioned on other reports I want to bring it back here.

When we lived in SoCal we would eat a LOT of Marie Callandar's Pies. The restaurant chain had a bakery in each store so the pies would normally be baked 'same-day'. The pies were pretty good quality (some better than others) and in many cases would compare very favorably with those of our Local bakery/ice cream outfit here in Louisville. I bring this up here because of the annual Pie Sale that MC's puts on ever February. You can get almost any flavor on the menu for $5 for the whole PIE !! When we first took advantage of the sale (1988 or so) we bought a couple of pies--Pecan, Chocolate Silk, and Lemon Meringue, if I recall correctly.
By the time we moved away in 2000 Jan and I would be over at MC's at least once a week, turning in our washed empty pie tins for the 50 cent credit we got for each and picking up a new batch. French and Dutch Apple, BlackBerry, Boyenberry, Razzleberry, threeberry, Peach melba, Fresh Strawberry, Pecan, Apricot, Cherry, Butterscotch, Fudge/Mud, Rum Raisin, Coconut and Banana Cream, Lemon Sour cream (one of my favorites), and I think one time we got three Chocolate Silks (Jan loves them!).
The reason I mention this is due to the costs involved. The restaurant was about 10 miles from my home so travel costs were very low. We could get 10 pies for $50 that could (if we let it them) last us a week.
I LOVE Good PIES and MC makes a very good pie ! Yep those were the days. Do any of you West Coasters shop the Pie Sale at MC's? I think Baker's Square also does one, but not as cheap!!

    Twinwillow-
I first read your comment as Pieromania! Of course, that works, too.

    TTM-
Always the rebel, aren't you? I know that piece of cake and it rivals, if not beats every slice of pie. How it survivied two days in my possession is an upset for the ages!

    CalicoSkies-
Welcome to Roadfood! If you love pie, we like you already. We hope to hear more from you!

    catherines-
No, I am unfamiliar with Randall's. As a matter of fact, I have never been in Perryopolis in my life. Next time I go to Glisan's, I will have to make it a pie doubleheader and drive over to Randall's, too.

You outdid yourself! My two favorites are the Hoosier Pie at Nick's Kitchen (since I had their cherry pie, I can well imagine how good your pies must have tasted) and your own chocolate chess. Well done, my friend!

    Avocado pie:
Graham cracker crust, juice 3 lemons, 3 limes, gelatin, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 3 avocados, 1/4 cold water. Topping: sour cream and heavy cream whipped. Delicious.

I have never been a big fan of desert. Pie, cake, donuts, etc. I like them, but can't get excited over them. If I feel I need something sweet after a nice meal I usually go for a Sambuca.

Great thread with great pics. I appreciate everyones appreciation for good pie.

My idea of pie for desert is this
