California Coast Sun, 11/3/13 10:00 PM (permalink)
Traveling next weekend from L. A. to San Francisco up the coast highway.  Does anyone have any favorites?

Depends what you mean by the coast. US-101 all the way, or the Pacific Coast Highway-----and if so, what part of PCH?

Welcome to Roadfood!  And, uh, interesting screen name you have there.

One of the highlights of our Southern California trip last year was Brophy Brothers in Santa Barbara.

Quite an interesting name to say the least. Coincidentally, it was my wife's maiden name. Anyway, in Ventura there is a great little breakfast joint called Pete's. Worth a stop.

You might as well not even go if you don't plan to visit either Nepenthe or Post Ranch Inn for lunch in Big Sur.

This Californian thinks Nepenthe is over-rated and over-priced... but Post Ranch gets two thumbs up. (Caveat: I think Nepenthe is hip & cool & fun to look at, but the wait times can also be horrendous...)

At the halfway point in a California coast trip from LA to San Francisco lies a very well known restaurant (if not famous) to all travelers that take this beautiful coastal  LA to SF road........... I need not expound any further but send you to google "Pea Soup Andersen's"
                      https://www.google.com/search?q=Pea+Soup+Andersen's&oq=Pea+Soup+Andersen's&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8

Oh, yes. sizz is right. Pea Soup Andersen's is definitely a must. I say that now, despite the fact that I haven't been there since 1956.
