Checked out this 18month young place  on Carpenter Street, parallel to Atwells a few blocks south.  Took my next door neighbor and loved it.  Very small and I suggest going at an "off" time to limit chance of a wait.  We sat down right away, we got there at 10:30 on a Thursday.
Their bacon is hand cut by the slice.  After just eating at Peter Luger's and loving their bacon appetizer, I was thrilled to see it there.  It's not as thick as Peter Luger's $4 slices but it's well worth the $2.50 a slice.
Not a place to linger . . . straight backed and sided, high, wooden benches.  What they lack in comfort seating they make up for in comfort food.  Nice firm pieces of toast, handmade flavorful sausage patties, thick italian sausage links, lots of specials.  Eggs anyway, omelets, lots of variety.  Worth the drive from MA.
Lots of character!!!
