Ted's Restaurant in Toronto! Thu, 10/4/12 12:16 PM (permalink)
Here's a writeup from the National Post about Ted's Restaurant:
Ted's is an institution dating back to 1955 in the Highland Creek corner of Scarborough. A quick excerpt for those too lazy to click on the article:
National Post
"Mr. and Mrs. Ted Petkoff and their staff " invited the public to "the grand opening of Ted's Variety and Coffee Shop, No. 2 Highway and Highland Creek Cloverleaf, Tues., Nov. 30, 1954," according to a newspaper ad framed on the wall here.
Here is the glass-doored fridge, with apple and blueberry pie, next to the Hamilton Beach milkshake maker, five stools at the counter, and beyond them, old paintings on the wall advertising "Tender and juicy steaks & chops," bacon & eggs with homefries and toast ($4.20) and fish & chips ("We only fry halibut.") On a shelf are stacked glasses for small sundaes, tall sundaes....
