Ray Klavon who owned and operated Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor in Pittsburgh's Strip District, passed away yesterday. He was only 64 yrs old. Ray was a dear friend of our family, and doted on my nieces and nephews when they came into the shop for ice cream treats. Rick Sebak profiled Klavon's on his Strip Show program. RIP in Peace, dear friend.

Although I can't anything official, it looks Klavon's has closed it's doors. We tried to stop in last Thursday night and it seemed to be out of business. The shelves looked empty and the building had a for sale sign. What a shame! First Jo-Jo's, then Benkovitz and now Klavon's. The Strip has really taken a hit in the last few years. If anyone can find something official, please let us know.
