That is terrible news. LM's was more than a good BBQ SPOT...it was a legend that was a destination for many Roadfood roadtrips. I am bummed out at the loss to the community. AL

I have been there a couple of times with Bushie and the Mayor. The first time was the best and the last, the bbq was a bit dry. Regardless, I enjoyed both visits. They always gave me a sample before buying. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

TTM notified me of this particularly disappointing loss to the Roadfood community and the community of Taylor TX. I only visited once, 6 years ago, but it's etched out in my mind as one of my favorite classic Texas Style BBQ joints I'm glad that no one was hurt, and I'm hoping that they will rebuild

For the most up-to-date information, I might suggest that you follow @LouieMuellerBBQ on Twitter. Even if you don't have a Twitter account, you should be able to click on their link and see the most recent updates. In addition to updates on the re-opening, you also get an added dose of family drama! The latest, it would seem, is that they have additional pits (that they describe as "well-seasoned") and will be able to re-open soon. It was just the original pit that was destroyed.

I think any way that we describe it, it is an understatement!

Saw the tweet-note that they reopened today for regular hours. WISH i COULD BE THERE TO CHECK THE PLACE OUT, AND GET A BEEF RIB OR TWO.

What sounds interesting to me is J Meuller opening his new establishment in Austin and Louis Meuller's pit burning. Not saying they're connected just saying. Too bad about the family drama, kinda reminds me of the Kreiz split in 1999 in Lockhart.

I think that family drama is as long standing a tradition in barbecue circles as smoking food over wood, itself.

I feel terrible for them. However, I feel much better knowing they're going to be up and smoking again, soon. When I drive down to Austin from Dallas, Louie Mueller BBQ is usually the first place I head to.

Looking at the pictures it is no wonder that the pit was a total loss. The family feud aside, two fires in two days would be enough for anyone. I am glad to see that they have back up pits available and will be back up and smoking soon. The old pit was truly unique, in it's configuration and operation, I am sure there will be another "son of a Pit" once the smoke and falmes simmer down and they can get back to rebuilding.

They do have a monster, portable pit that many of y'all have probably seen in NOLA for the big Roadfood party. I always wondered how they navigated the tiny streets of New Orleans with that beast.

Foodbme I'll be interested to hear what the cause of the fires were according to LM it was a grease fire and then a rekindle of the first fire that eventually doomed the pit in.
