At our next pop up restaurant event we're duplicating the burgers from the 4 restaurants that have the strongest claim as to being the "inventor" of the form.
As near as we can tell here's how Charlie Nagreen was doing it way back in 1885
Cooking implement: cast iron pan
Cooking medium: cow's butter
Topping: sweet onion, dill pickle
Bread: White, loaf bread
In keeping with Mr Nagreen's original formula this hamburger is a double patty with an onion in the middle.
